Weymouth’s Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is now selling official London 2012 branded t-shirts.
Weymouth’s TIC is one of a limited number of UK outlets which will stock the shirts ahead of The Games, thanks to the Borough’s credentials as a world class sailing venue.
International sailing teams are already training in the Borough ahead of 2012, and Olympic class regattas, such as Sail for Gold, are held regularly at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy. The 2012 sailing events in Weymouth & Portland will be the first ever to be held against a backdrop of world heritage coastline.
Cllr Howard Legg, Brief Holder for Partnerships and Special Projects, said: “Weymouth &Portland residents and visitors can now be amongst the first in the UK to show their support for The Games with an official Olympic branded t shirt. We are really lucky to be living in an area which is continually recognised and praised for its natural assets, and to be recognised as a leading venue ahead of the Games is a high accolade indeed – wearing one of the new t shirts is one way that people can show their support for The Games and feel they are a part of one of the greatest summer sporting events in the world ”
