Christmas Family Fun on Portland in Victoria Gardens

The Friends of Victoria Gardens invite you to join them for some Christmas family fun  Monday 14th December in the evening.

The decorative lights will be on, Santa’s sleigh will be flying in and the mulled wine will be flowing between 4.30-6.30pm on Monday 14 December so why not come along to Victoria Gardens and enjoy the festivities being laid on.

The young ones can visit Santa on his sleigh thanks to the Rotarian helpers and the Chesil Cove Children’s Choir will be singing carols from 5.30pm to really get everyone in the Christmas spirit. As well as the mulled wine, you can eat mince pies whilst having a flutter on the raffle and tombola; with lots of children’s prizes being given away.

Douglas Pigg, Friends of Victoria said, “The main aim of the event is to encourage residents into the gardens for a bit of festive fun but it also provides an opportunity for people to join or renew their membership of the Friends Group so we hope that you can come along and show your support.”

The Friends of Victoria Gardens have had lots to be pleased about during 2009 as approval for funding grants was received to make a number of improvements within the gardens. Some of the projects will start in 2010 and be completed over the next few years. These include a new disabled access into the gardens, provision of new play facilities for 8 to 13 year olds, new seating and to really finish things off there will be a new access to the gardens at the bottom of Queens Road, which will replicate the original Victorian Gate and Archway to provide a real welcome to Portland.
