We are now 24 hours into building translated contact on the site and all seems to be progressing well. Translated pages in most cases are formatted well although there will be some cases where appearance is thrown out a little due to translations resulting in longer expressions.
We tried a few reverse translations from translated pages back into English using Google translator and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the results. Quietly confident now that foreign visitors will be able to read about Weymouth and Portland and make sense of what they see in their own language.
Over 300 pages have now been translated into twenty languages . Automatic translation continues at the rate of one page every 5 minutes or so.
Portugese, Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Japanese pages are now starting to appear in Googles index , actually much faster than we had expected. We still expect it to be a couple more months though until pages start appearing in relevant search engine results.
