Friends of the MV Freedom
Stella Hayward Riding for the Disabled Association
Dorset Search and Rescue
West Fleet Farm camping park is the start and finish of the walk.
The Challenge passes through the parish of Moonfleet made famous in J. Meade Faulkner’s smuggling novel “Moonfleet”. We then head northwards to Corton Gap, our first checkpoint. Corton Chapel is thought to be the smallest church in Dorset.
At Corton we pick up part of the Jubilee Trail, this takes us onto the ridge which leads to Upwey.
Here we drop down into the village passing Upwey Wishing Well.
After the climb out of Upwey we follow the inner coastal parth along the ridge towards Hardy’s monument and lunch!
From here we pick up the inner coastal path with lovely views of the fleet.
We leave this ridge to drop down in Abbotsbury, where we head for the Abbotsbury Swannery and stop for a drink at the last checkpoint.
We leave the Swannery for the final section which takes us along the Fleet and back to the campsite.
Who can take part?
The Callenge is open to people of all ages who are reasonably fit. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. There is no time limit for completion of the walk however please be aware that you could be walking for up to 10 hours!
Do we have to walk the whole distance?
Absolutely not! Why not consider a relay team with friends or family? Or businesses, why not use this as a team building exercise and help some local charities at the same time. A team can consist of any number of people walking one or more sections. For further details please email: walk4charity@ninahanger.wanadoo.co.uk or call 01305 784995
